Where I Stand 17/03/16

Daoud has picked up that strange notion that I have always wanted to use.  He states in The Meursault Investigation that somehow there was more hope in the colonial/apartheid period  and there is now in the postcolonial period.  There was a sense he says that ‘we were waiting not going round in circles like we are today.’  Not that one ever would want to go back to those terrible times but there is that strange realisation that in those days there was hope, a hope that as almost entirely disappeared as we are left with a world with seemingly no other alternatives other than just having to put up with the postcolonial mess that we are in.
